Evergreen Colony Farming

Evergreen Colony Farming is located near Taber, Alberta, in one of Canada’s most productive irrigated farming corridors, where canals and water infrastructure have transformed dry prairie into highly productive cropland. Founded in 2008, Evergreen is a relatively young colony that has quickly become part of the region’s network of successful farm operations, contributing to local grain, oilseed, and livestock production.

Life at Evergreen revolves around communal agriculture typical of Hutterite colonies, with members sharing work, resources, and responsibility across all aspects of the farm. Large irrigated fields are managed through coordinated seeding, crop care, and harvest, while livestock operations provide an additional pillar of the colony’s mixed-farming model. This shared-labour approach supports efficient, large-scale production that suits the climate, soils, and irrigation systems of the Taber area.
