Winding River Colony

Winding River Colony is a rural Hutterite community in north-central Saskatchewan, situated near Birch Hills between the towns of Birch Hills and St. Louis on the south side of the South Saskatchewan River. The colony lies within a productive agricultural corridor north of Saskatoon, where grain, oilseeds, and livestock production are central to the local economy and landscape.

Life at Winding River revolves around communal farming and shared responsibility. Like other Hutterite colonies on the Canadian Prairies, members live, work, and worship together, pooling labour and resources to manage fields, livestock, and colony infrastructure. This cooperative model supports efficient large-scale operations while maintaining a strong sense of community and mutual support.
