Buckwheat Groats

Buckwheat groats are one of the most underrated staples in the whole-food kitchen, and these ones come straight from the Saskatchewan Prairies, grown and processed by Kyle Colony’s K.C. Pulse operation right on the colony farm near Kyle, Saskatchewan.

Despite the name, buckwheat is not a wheat at all. It is naturally gluten-free, making it an excellent choice for those with gluten sensitivities or anyone looking to diversify beyond conventional grains. Buckwheat groats are the hulled whole kernels, minimally processed, clean, and ready to cook in a wide range of applications.

Use them as a hot breakfast porridge, cook them like rice as a hearty grain side dish, toast them for a nuttier flavour before simmering, blend them into gluten-free flour for baking, or toss cooked groats cold into grain bowls and salads. Their mild, earthy flavour and satisfying texture make them one of the most adaptable whole foods you can keep in your pantry.

Nutritionally, buckwheat groats are a powerhouse, rich in complex carbohydrates, plant-based protein, dietary fibre, magnesium, and antioxidants. They provide sustained energy without the spike and crash of refined grains, making them a smart everyday staple for active households and health-conscious eaters alike.

Grown and processed by a community that has been farming the Saskatchewan Prairies since 1970, these groats carry the same field-to-fork integrity as every K.C. Pulse product, clean origins, honest farming, and no unnecessary additives.
