Rockport Colony

With origins dating back to 1895 in Alexandria, South Dakota, Rockport Colony has a rich history grounded in flour milling and agricultural excellence. The original Rockport Flour Mills, powered by a waterwheel on the James River, laid the foundation for what would become one of the most recognized names in Hutterite food production: Coyote Pancake Mix, named after the abundant coyotes in the region.

In 1932, an offshoot of the original colony established the Hutterville Colony near Magrath, Alberta, where Rockport Colony continues that legacy today. Building on decades of milling expertise, Rockport Flour Mills in Magrath began operations in 1923 and remains a pillar of our community. Using wheat grown on our own land and from select local farmers, we produce premium pancake and waffle mixes that are now distributed coast-to-coast across Canada.

In addition to food production, Rockport Colony operates a successful cattle program, raising calves with a focus on superior genetics, consistent feeding, and high-quality care. These calves are marketed to feedlots and known for their strong performance and reliability.
